Castle de Haar, The Netherlands

Our first family outing in our new country did not disappoint.  We headed out to the countryside of Utrecht late one Saturday afternoon to visit de Haar Castle, a medieval fortress and largest of its kind in The Netherlands.  Instead of spending what little daylight we had left on a guided tour, we opted to  roam the old gardens, enjoy the foliage, and chase Graham around the pastures.  And yes, we did stop to pinch ourselves quite a few times.  The history behind this fairytale-like castle will save for another day.  In the meantime, enjoy our first glimpses of The Netherlands!

Husband and wife selfie.

I thought I was back in Louisiana for a second.
Ducks overhead.  Jason just wishes he could hunt here.
Baby girl all bundled up!

And another.

The settings were stunning.

Like a kid in a candy store. This little boy ran  sprinted to see "bucky, bucky".

A beautiful fallow deer
Graham could hardly contain his excitement!

And she was quite content with her thumb in mouth.
