A few weeks back Jason and I discovered a popular lifestyle destination in the heart of Singapore, called the Chijmes. The Chijmes is actually an old Catholic convent with beautiful French-inspired architecture (makes me think I am back in New Orleans), which has been converted into restaurants, shops, galleries, and a few watering holes. The enclosed grounds of the convent really make for a beautiful setting for dinner. We have enjoyed the ambiance, food, and live music so much so, that we have been back at least four times over the past two months. You know where to find us on a Saturday evening!
During our dinner dates to the Chijmes we have also visited Singapore's famed Raffles Hotel nearby. This colonial-styled landmark, which dates back to the late 1800's, has hosted many distinguished guests including: members of royalty, political leaders, and celebrities (Michael Jackson once stayed here). Recently, a friend and I spent the afternoon at the Raffles for an English High Tea, my first such experience; and, it did not disappoint!

Aside from all of the eating we seem to do, we have started hiking at the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve (yes, ugly little monkeys roam the area) in anticipation of our trip to New Zealand in two weeks. Check out Jason's fashion statement...
